She's Back!

Guess who's back? Wait for it.... Nicola. YAY!
We are finally learning Christmas songs. Everyone gets a solo. My solo is in Deck the halls which is my favourite song out of all of them. I'm not too sure about what I'm supposed to be singing but I'm not freaking. I like all the songs and love the small dances. We will be performing in three weeks!
I don't feel too nervous which is good. I am confident!

Bye everyone.

Rainbows everywhere

Hello, today I did art with Katie, or should I say Jenni! We did tape art.
I f you look at my art what do you think?
You're thinking, how did I get such straight lines around my artwork, right? Well I can answer that.
I used masking tape to create a pattern.

I think it looks really colourful and this is how you make it. Get 1 A3 piece of card and make a pattern of some sort with it. Next colour it in with house paint (wear old clothes or an art shirt for this because house paint can stain).

Do 2 layers of paint for this and when you've done that, peal of the masking tape (masking tape does not rip).
If you like this, give it a go. It's really fun!

Boys, Boys, Boys - do they ever stop talking???

I walked in this morning and looked at the timetable for the day. First on the list was roll and admin and after that it read TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE.
We did the roll and then it was time to start the techy challenge.
"Right, it is time for us to do the techy challenge. You are going to get into groups of 3 & 4 and make a chair. You will have 5 mins to plan what your chair it going to look like and feel how heavy my friend the little frog is. I was in a group with Neave, Jackson and Daniel. Our plan worked out okay, to be honest     with you, we would've come second or something if the BOYS actually helped!
Today I learnt to never be in a group with Jackson or Daniel because they do nothing apart from talk!

"Hurry up girls, we don't have all day! Tonight's our first rehearsal and we've got to be perfecto, ok"?
Today in performance we practiced our moves for Don't Stop Me Now and Let Me Entertain You.
Today is the rehearsal and we're even gonna have the soloist, Eli come in to do the solo part for Don't Stop Me Now!
Well we were actually meant to have Maria come in to show us the whole dance but she didn't but I reckon we coped all right!

Well, off to lunch to practice me moves!
Yours sincerely........... wait for it....... Pearl

Please DON'T stop me now!! Pretty please.

Today for Talent Development we sort of had a competition with our singing and dancing for Don't Stop Me Now. We had to have sharp moves because Nicola said! Plus, our first performance in front of others is coming up so we needed to make sure we had the right moves. The music started. For the first round, five girls went up and did the moves and we sang. I picked Reina because she was the strongest singer AND she had a good attitude with her dance.

Thursday 29 August 2013

Today for Performance we did something slightly different instead of just singing. Today we had a girl from James Hargest Senior  come in and show us some dance moves. Her name was Ella.
We had lots of clicking with our hands in the song just so the dance could fit in with the song. We danced to Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams.

Groove out of it!

Performance

"Some things are meant to be, the clouds floating fast and free," Oh hi, just been in performance for a new song. Have you heard the story Little Women? Well I'm gonna tell you all about it, well about the song anyway. It's called Some Things Are Meant To Be. If you are a person who is emotional then do not listen to this song. It's so sad. Nicola our performance teacher was crying all the way through the song on Monday and Tuesday, but now she's sucked it up and moved on!

Anyway back to what I was saying, we listened to Some Things Are Meant To Be  and THEN we sharpened up our moves in Don't Stop Me Now. There is a soloist for the first part of the song and then we come in on "I'm havin' a good time and then start to sing from there.

BLOG YA LATA........ PEARL

Thursday 8 August 2013

Today in performance we took photos of ourselves. We needed a buddie, a good pose and most importantly a real smile not a fake one. Kady was my partner. We took many photos until we got them perfect. We took much longer than we expected. Kady ended up with a photo against the wall and I went with a cute one - like a cat, like this!

Bye!

Thursday 1 August 2013

"Quick quick, pass me the string. I need it now!" Today at Enrich we had another technology challenge. We had to make a stretcher that could hold four flour and sugar babies. Now, I know you THINK that there is no such thing as that but that is because they are made out of sugar and flour packets.

We had finally finished our design, but it looked really unappealing.

"Oh well Pearl," said Kady, "It's not the end of the world! We can still win if it holds."

Katie had set up an obstacle course on the walkway. It had cones for rocks and chairs set up on the other end of the room as mountains.

We were totally out of shape because we lost it when we were doing the obstacle. For starters we didn't have a strong enough design and secondly when we picked it up of the ground ALL of our handles fell off.
Today I learnt that if you are more interested in what you're doing then you start to communicate more but... If you are not that interested you do less work when your group really needs you to help!

That's all folks!

Thursday 11 July 2013

"Oh no! Where's my rook"? I asked Kady.
"Somewhere,"she replied.
We were playing chess and I couldn't find my Rook because Kady had hidden it.
"Kady, if we don't play we'll never finish the game in time!"
I moved my pawn forward one because then I could move my Queen and protect the King from any danger.
Kady moved the pawn in front of the Queen two spaces in front.
We never finished but the next time we play chess I'm going to take my Queen out of the game and use the other players differently.

Later folks!

Thursday 4 July 2013

" Come on people!" Nicola started ordering. "Shoulders out, standing still with legs apart"
Today we learned a new song in performance called Maybe Tomorrow. Our challenge was to memorize the song but that was kinda easy because it's a catchy song, I can type some of it now:
"All of your sorrows, maybe tomorrow will fade away in the air, tryin' to please me makin' it easy, it won't be there, it won't be there... in your life, in your life.

We had three shots at getting it right but I took two because I knew the song anyway.
Well bye for now folks:-)

Got the nerves

It was nearly my turn and I had the nerves."Pearl, It's your turn now!" I was shaking with fear but at least no one saw it in the video. We were rehearsing our monologues from weeks before and believe me, it was scary. Not like freaky scary but feeling scary. I was doing a tooth fairy monologue and I was saying what I thought about the tooth fairy.

"I lost a tooth the other day and my Mum told me to put it under my pillow...." Even though I was freaked I still didn't make one single mistake so I thought I did pretty well anyway. I went onto stage a bit later because my first name is more later on in the alphabet so I didn't need to worry.Oh I'm so glad I finished my monologue and I only got one bad report but that wasn't really a big issue because it was only my volume.

Well, blog ya later

I Was a Pancake Today

"Make a Sandwich already!" said Nicola as we played a 'spatial drama' game. The game was called Ten Second Objects because of course, we were in a group and we had to make an object in ten seconds. But not an easy object out of anything, but an object out of people. The sandwich was so easy because you just lay on top of each other and in my group, poor Kady had everyone lying on her.
There were other ones like that but they grew harder and harder but I had a favourite one, the breakfast. I was a pancake with Kady, Daniel was a mushroom, Hamish was something weird and Olivia was a boiled egg.

The next drama game we played was 'phychological drama' and it was called There's Only One Liar which was easy because you just close your eyes, and a teacher comes round and taps someone on the shoulder. The first round we played, she tapped no-one and the next round she tapped everyone and we went blaming everyone.

Bye!

Monologues

You may not have heard of Monologues but do not fear, I'm here to tell you what they are.
A monologue is an act played by an actress in a movie or play, but if you don't really get it, here is the tooth fairy play:

"I lost a tooth the other day, and my mum told me to put it under my pillow and that in the middle of the night the tooth fairy would come in and replace my tooth with some cash. OKay... so I have some questions and concerns here.

#1) What does this little tooth freak do with all these teeth? By my calculations somewhere in the world a child loses a tooth every .08 seconds... BUT they are not all in the same part of the world.. which brings me to..."

I'm not going to do any more of my Monologue because it goes on and on.

If your fascinated about what the tooth fairy DOES do with our teeth, you're gonna have to find out for yourself because to be honest, I don't know what happens to teeth!

Well, See ya later

The 'Pit'...

Have you ever fallen into a pit that you couldn't get out of? Well if you have or are about to here is some advice for you:

You may have thought: "Today I'm going to have a great day today" and then you haven't done your homework, when it's due that day and your Mother is already yelling at you to get your shoes on and your teacher has givin' you a warning about your homework and if you do it one more time you'll get sent to the principal's office..........
Then you're at the breaking point of falling into the pit. If you don't do something quick though, the hole grows deeper and deeper.
One thing you can do is be organised or even ask for help, but remember your friends don't want to be up at the top of the pit for hours and hours and even months waiting for you to climb up. But if you keep on trying to be organised, you'll find yourself nearly at the top of the pit and you can just about jump out of it.
Bye... Pearl

Chess

Today I played chess with Violet and did pretty well, but the worst thing was we never finished the game to reveal the winner!

There are eight pawns which are the smallest players, two Rooks, knights and bishops and last of all one of each Queen and King.
The pawns can move upwards and take other players on a diagonal. The Rooks can't move on a diagonal, only straight but as many squares as they want. The Knight goes on in an "L" shape, the Bishop however can ONLY go on a diagonal. The King can go all directions, but can only move one square at a time. The Queen is quite powerful because she can go all directions and as MANY squares as she wants.

Guess which player is which!
Bye

Life on Mars

Hi, I'm back from the school holidays!
The pressure was on as we learnt a new, hard song.
The song was called "Life on Mars," originally sung by David Bowie. I need to tell you though that it's a HIGH song.

We always have a warm-up song before we actually start singing just to get our voices warmed up.
Well anyway, BYE!

Thursday 18 April 2013

Oh my!

Today the performance group learnt two more songs, one by Queen and the other by Gin Wigmore. I love being in the performance group!

The actual songs were Don't Stop Me Now and Oh My. My favorite paragraph in Don't Stop Me Now is the first one were it goes "Tonight I'm gonna have myself a really time - I feel alive and the world, It's turnin inside out Yeah! I'm floating around in ecstasy"

Then the song gets really groovy and that bits when every one joins in with the "Don't stop me now, 'cause i'm having a good time, having a good time!"

Well Bye!

Thursday 11 April 2013

Wow!

Can you believe it? I made it through to the performance group with Nicola.

Today I went to audition for the performance group and I made it. I had butterflies in my tummy at first but Nicola made me feel alright.

It was my turn next and I knew that because I had to act as a dog for another person. You could either do a poem, a dance or a song and I chose the poem.

I did "The Homework Machine."

Nicola didn't think that that was enough so I showed her I could do a Kart-wheel and then I finally got through so that's how  got through to the performance group!

Talent development tasters

Everybody estimated or should I say guesstamated what number on the dice would most likely be rolled after 50 turns. This is called probability.  We have a girl group for our talent development tasters and here are the names: Violet, Olivia, Tara, Reina, Cassie, Kady and I.

Guesstamating is when you guess any random number in maths and the last bit of the word is Mating. Mating is the last few letters of the word estamating see, guesst-a-mating. We all got three lollies at the end of the session because we had been extra good!!!

I have got a little activity for YOU and that is to estimate how many lollies are in this jar and then you can count and see if your right.

music

Hola!
This morning Nicola asked the class if we wanted to learn real music. She only took the girls and that was fine with me because we were sort of singing a girly type song. We were singing to one of my favorite singers and that is Kelly Clarkson.

"Guess this means you're sorry, you're standing at my door, guess this means you take back what you said before" and we started to sing. We sounded great apart from a few hiccups but you don't need to know about that, Okay. We had to do some music writing.
We had to know how to write music notes which was a little bit hard.

Hoopla

We got tricked so many times by the evil teachers picking on us in our Wilson game. First Nicola would say "jump" and the next thing you know, Darryn claps.
The  rules were, you either have to have a group of three or other wise four. The aim of the game was to jump with two feet together while holding your partners sweaty hands and you have to land with your feet all at the same time. We were so close to getting there but.... Big mistake, Gorgie  fell over and we went back to the start. It was okay I guess because Over all we came third Thanks for reading........ Pearl
